Every year at Salmon we pick one young person to honour as our ‘Member of the Year’ for their contribution and commitment to Salmon over the previous year.

This year, the Member of the Year award for 2014 goes to Harry Dobson.

Harry has been a member of Salmon Youth Centre for over five years and during that time, he has grown in confidence and dedicated his time and effort in the Young Leaders programme and helping out in our football and trampoline sessions. His recent achievement is being a newly qualified FA referee and he has enjoyed being the referee during the 10-13s football club.

Harry has consistently shown great passion in helping the young people at Salmon and has been on the forefront of ensuring that the young people not only have fun at Salmon, but they always leave learning something new.

Some of Harry’s achievements throughout the year included representing Southwark in the Southwark Youth Games for trampoline, as well as completing the London Cambridge Bike Ride.

His recent work includes the FA Respect Campaign Workshop that he lead, as well as being one of the people voted to get gunged in the Comic Relief fundraiser (pictured here on the right with Salmon Youth Worker, Matt).

In addition to this, Harry was shortlisted for the Attlee Award for Outstanding Leadership last month – an award given to a “young person with outstanding commitment to youth work and the potential to be a future community leader.”

Once again, big congratulations to Harry Dobson for becoming Salmon’s Member of the year for 2014!
