Salmon Youth Centre hosted the second Salmon Celebration of the year on Tuesday 8th December. Salmon Celebration is an event dedicated to the achievements of the young members of Salmon during the year. Young people, parents and volunteers were in attendance of this very special event.

The staff of Salmon who have worked with young people to learn new skills and develop themselves in sport, music and art activities hosted the night.

There were also performances on the night from Lilly Dempsey and Labryinth's cousin Bex.

Our new Salmon apprentices Noad and Derrick presented awards to the young people who attend Salmon Tigers, for their development and improvement in their skills during sessions.

In addition, our Administrator Manager Jim Guild awarded certificates to the volunteers of Salmon for dedicating more than 50 hours of their volunteering efforts at Salmon, which included Salmon’s founder ‘Pa’ Salmon’s great granddaughter Hannah Salmon.

Other awards included the Youth Alpha course certificates, which Jamie and Leslie lead with a group of 14+ members to learn and engage them in open discussions about the Christian faith with their friends.

A special award was given to Ben Lamping for reaching the goal to raise over £10,000 on behalf of Salmon during the Tough Mudder obstacle course, which he ran alongside Matt, Jamie, Harry and Gareth James.

Last but not least, Toshawn Morgan was nominated for the Member of the Year award for his contribution and dedication to Salmon throughout the year. He has helped out massively in climbing and adventure activities as well as perusing his passion for lighting and sound engineering.  The Mayor of Southwark Councillor Dora Dixon-Fyle was also in attendance to congratulate Toshawn on his achievement.

A very special thanks to all the young people and parents who attended Salmon Celebration and congratulations to all the young people who won awards!
