Sports and adventure activities are a great tool for engaging young people in positive, healthy activities and giving them the opportunity to get involved in the many other sessions run by the Salmon Youth Centre.
We try to make every session fun, whether recreational or coaching, but also look out for times where we can encourage better team play or conflict resolution skills. Physical activity helps improve young people’s fitness, health and self-image, while also challenging them to work positively with others and learn new techniques. Adventure activities take the personal challenge to a whole new level, as any young person about to abseil from the top of the building will tell you!
We offer coaching in a variety of sports for those who want to improve their abilities, but we also make time for plenty of fun sessions and competitions. We have a range of sports and adventure qualifications on offer and are always looking for young people who have the right mix of skill, character and commitment to become young volunteers or apprentices, to pass their knowledge and enthusiasm on to others.
Adventure based learning activities are one of the most powerful and effective tools for engaging young people here at Salmon. We offer a wide range of adventure activities including climbing, abseiling, high ropes course, bungee trampoline, flying trapeze, mountain biking, kayaking, sailing, skiing and other seasonal events.
Our sessions are open to those aged 6-19, as you will see from the programme, but we welcome older people who wish to volunteer with us and experience a taste of sports and adventure work in a busy youth centre.
